Bucharest Fringe – Maratonul Teatrului Independent s-a născut în 2010 din nevoia unor artiști tineri de a se face auziți într-o perioadă în care mișcarea independentă era ignorată și redusă la câteva spații devenite între timp legendare. De atunci s-a desfășurat neîntrerupt, în fiecare an.

Bucharest Fringe și-a creat un profil clar și îndrăzneț axat pe publicul tânăr promovând calitatea, originalitatea, spiritul liber și debutul artistic. În cele 9 ediții am adus în fața publicului bucureștean de peste 17.500 spectatori, 1.326 de artiști din țară și străinătate. Am parcurs împreună cu publicul și artiștii independenți din România 82 zile de festival. Ne-am bucurat împreună de 181 de spectacole de teatru și 250 de evenimente în 32 de teatre independente și spații neconvenționale. Am acordat 50 de premii în cadrul categoriei “Competiție” și am petrecut alături de public și artiști peste 320 de ore de teatru.
